Once upon a time...

In 2009, a small-town winemaker launched a bold new label under the brand Wargin Wines. The wine was called Big & Beautiful, and the vision was clear: a voluptuous, eye-catching woman on the bottle celebrating life. Mikael Wargin started with a loose sketch from a friend — but when his new business partner (and future wife) brought her love of Art Nouveau into the mix, the creative direction shifted. â€‹Together, they teamed up with a graphic designer, who had a bold suggestion: bring in a tattoo artist. The design brief?

“Think of a middle-aged absinthe fairy happy to have a drink - only now, she’s traded absinthe for a good glass of wine.”

Just 24 hours later, the first draft of the    Fairy Wine Mother was born. What began as a character on a wine label quickly took on a life of its own. Her whimsical, rebellious spirit set the tone for the entire Wargin Wines aesthetic—becoming more than a muse, she became a mindset. Fans of the boutique winery in Soquel, California (Santa Cruz County) not only loved the wine—they wanted her. Her look. Her attitude. Her story.

And so, what started as a wine label evolved into a lifestyle brand. Welcome to Fairy Wine Mother — where tattoo art, storytelling, and a love of wine come together in products made to be shared, worn, and celebrated.

(Please note, while frequently asked - the character was not supposed to resemble Mikael's wife - it just happened that way. The artist never met her.... so this was all just meant to be.)
